Over-sensitivity to sugar

Dutch English
We prefer not to use cane or beet sugar, because of increasing over-sensitivity to sugar and ADHD issues. Therefore Candy Tree sweets are mildly sweetened with corn syrup, concentrated fruit juices, molasses*, maple syrup or agave syrup.
*Although the molasses in the liquorice is a residual product of cane sugar, the taste however is rather a bit bitter, because most of the sugar has been extracted. We use the black molasses for the bitter taste and it gives the liquorice its black colour as well.

We DON'T use High Fructose Corn Syrup!
HFCS is often used in the USA because of its strong sweetness, which makes the syrup a good replacement for sugar. This syrup is not certfified as organic and besides that it consists mainly of fructose, which is not suitable for our products. Our organic maltose corn syrup is of course certified and consists mainly of maltose, maltotriose and a bit of glucose.

Do Candy Tree sweets taste just as good as sweets with sugar?
Sweets with sugar taste sweeter and are therefore combined with aromas with a strong taste and smell. Candy Tree sweets taste less sweet. Therefore the sweets taste good, even with natural ingredients and mild organic natural aromas.

We only go for real natural!
For the Candy Tree sweets we use, among other ingredients, pure concentrated fruit juices of cherry, strawberry, blackcurrant, raspberry, orange, lemon, pineapple and apple, real roasted hazelnuts, full cream and pure liquorice root extract.

Our organic flavours are made of organic ingredients. They are not chemical flavourings, but real natural extracts of organic fruits or vanilla. You sure can taste the diffrence, but if you're used to candy with sugar, it may take a while to get used to it.
